Plan your goals

“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?”

Luke 14:28

The second step on the ladder is to plan your goal.

What can I do, How much can I afford within the time I have?

As previously mentioned in the Initiate your goals post, having a S.M.A.R.T goal will help you plan what you can do with what you have and within the time you have.

Plan in order to achieve your benefits

Your plan needs to support the benefits you set out to get. This will help you identify any questions or areas that need clarity.

How can I sustain my benefits?

Plan how you will maintain the benefits. Ensuring that anything you create during your project meet expectations, and that the end product can be used as intended.

Be open to change

Make your plan adaptable so that you can quickly respond to changes. Some things beyond your control may require you to steer a different course, be open to the winds of change.

Be prepared for risks

A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.

Proverbs 22:3

Plan for risks, threats and opportunities. In the Initiate your goals post, sharing your plans with others will help you to identify the risks that you perhaps did not think of yourself.

Communicate

Communication is vitally important in a couple/partnership goal. It ensures that you are always on the same page and all parties are abreast of the progress and issues. Plan for how you will communicate, what method will you use – a formalised meeting between all parties involved? Keeping a communication channel even if you have a solo goal is also useful. Keeping a journal or diary will serve as an inspiration for you on your journey and for future endeavours; and an inspiration for others one day, should you wish to share.

That is it for planning, next we move on to executing your goal…….
